Apparently, besides bringing near-100-degree temperature, a lot of sweat and huge air-conditioning bills, this summer's first heat wave is also bringing a wave of interfaith dialogue to St. Louis.
Last week, two Interfaith Partnership/Faith Beyond Walls board members, Sister Carla Mae Streeter and Ghazala Hayat talked to an audience at the Aquinas Institute of Theology about "the concept of 'holy war' and other issues of interest to both Catholics and Muslims."
This week, St. Louis Interfaith Community Explorations — a program known as SLICE — brought together Hindu and Catholic high school and middle school students to work with 26th Ward Alderman Frank Williamson and residents to clean alleys in the West End/Hamilton Heights neighborhood.
