The forum was "an effort to stem the scrutiny and discrimination that Muslims have faced since the Sept. 11 attacks attributed to Osama bin Laden...U.S. Rep. Shelia Jackson Lee promised Muslims support in Houston and from Congress.'We will stand with you and not against you,' she said. 'We will recognize that there is a separation between Osama bin Laden and your values.'
