On December 11, 2001, The Democrat and Chronicle reported "Diverse area delegation on visit to ground zero." The article noted, "An interfaith delegation from Rochester will journey to New York City today. Approximately 50 participants -- representatives of the Christian, Jewish, Muslim and Sikh communities -- will make the trip, hoping to reflect on the events of Sept. 11 and to solidify their commitment to work together for common goals here." The trip was organized by the Greater Rochester Community of Churches. "Several travelers say they consider the Trade Center site 'sacred ground,' or a 'graveyard,' that must be approached with a sense of awe and humility. 'I am going to pay tribute to the souls that have been lost,' says Parminder Singh Soch, a member of the Rochester community of Sikhs."
