BLOOMFIELD HILLS - Women of Jewish and Muslim faith broke bread Sunday afternoon for a threehour cultural exchange.

It included presentations about the Muslim religion, a Middle Eastern buffet and a question and answer session.

"I cannot explain the feeling of empowerment as a woman I got from attending an event like this," said Barbara Neumann-Scott, 61, of Farmington Hills. "It affi rms what I've always believed about women and their role in society as caregivers, those who dialogue and communicate."

About 125 women attended the event, "An Educational Day About Islam," at the Muslim Unity Center. Sisterhood of Congregation Beth Shalom co-sponsored it, along with Women's Interfaith Solutions for Dialogue and Outreach in Metro Detroit, or WISDOM.

Shahina Begg, co-founder of WISDOM, said the event was organized to dispel myths and misperceptions about the Islamic faith.
