On April 15, 2004 The Daily Review reported, "Members of the interfaith community again will join with their Jewish friends in remembering one of the most horrific chapters in world history. The 21st annual Holocaust Remembrance Day Service will take place Sunday evening at Temple Beth Torah in Fremont, the Tri-City area's only synagogue. The event will include readings from works by author and Holocaust survivor Elie Wiesel, who encouraged people to take responsibility for one another. 'If someone suffers and he keeps silent, it can be a good silence,' wrote Wiesel, in a passage that will be read Sunday by Rabbi Steve Kaplan of Temple Beth Torah. 'If someone suffers and I keep silent, then it is a destructive silence.'
