On September 18, 2006 the Fiji Times reported, "A temple break-in has been labelled a 'disgrace' by the Fiji Council of Churches.

Local residents said the act was cowardly and shameful.

Anil Dutt, 35, was ploughing his land next to the Shree Sanatan Dharam Vishnu Mandir yesterday when he noticed three louvre blades missing from one of the temple windows facing his home.

Mr Dutt said he called the temple president to tell him about a possible break-in before informing local residents.

Mandir committee member and Justice of Peace Rishi Ram said it was just the night before that the Calia Devi Mandir, two miles down the road, was broken into... Fiji Council of Churches president, Assemblies of Christian Churches of Fiji chairman and Methodist Church of Fiji deputy general secretary, the Reverend Tuikilakila Waqairatu, called on parents to educate their children to be responsible citizens and respect other races and religions."
