The DMS SEAL Certificate Program

The Division of Medical Sciences Science Education and Lecture (DMS SEAL) Program
was established by the DMS Education PATH to provide DMS graduate students with the
opportunity to develop curriculum, teach, and receive constructive feedback on their teaching.
Students participating in the program will be paired with a Boston-area university faculty host
who teaches an undergraduate-level science (or science-related) course. DMS SEAL Program
lecturers will develop and teach curriculum for a minimum of six (6) course meetings.
Participants will be observed by and receive feedback from their peers in the DMS SEAL
Program and their faculty hosts. The program culminates with a reflective composition on his or
her experience in the form of a teaching philosophy. DMS SEAL Program participation will allow
DMS students to obtain teaching experience as a course lecturer, to reflect on and improve their
teaching skills and craft, and to complete a portion of their teaching portfolio. Overall, successful
achievement of the goals for this program will make DMS students better prepared to enter
highly competitive education-related positions.
