What started out as a series of gatherings, led by PK Prabhaker, among a small number of Indian immigrants quickly transformed into a vibrant temple community in Jackson. In 1998, upon the urging of the devotees who gathered regularly for pujas and kirtans and longed for a permanent location, Prabhaker and others came together to purchase a building on Highway 80 West. Together, they founded the Sita Ram Temple.

Activities

The Sita Ram Temple boasts a variety of activities. The temple holds a regular prayer service each week night from 6:30-8:00pm followed by dinner. The temple also peforms a variety of ceremonies for weddings, engagements, baby showers, and birthdays. Special sessions are organized on days of religious importance, such as major Hindu holidays. A special program for children also exists, where several volunteers from the community work as academic mentors with children.
