Dr. Thomas Tweed

Dr. Thomas Tweed is professor and Harold and Martha Welch endowed chair in American Studies at the University of Notre Dame. In 2015, he served as the president of the American Academy of Religion. Dr. Tweed became a Pluralism Project affiliate in 1999 while a professor of religious studies at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. During that time, Dr. Tweed and UNC Chapel Hill students, as part of a first year seminar course, sought to document Buddhist communities in North Carolina. The course was part of the first year seminar program, founded by Dr. Tweed, which was offered to students beginning in 1999.
