Dr. John Stratton Hawley
In 2003, Dr. Jack S. Hawley began teaching a course entitled "Hinduism Here" at Barnard College. The course explores the historical, theological, social and ritual dimensions of "lived Hinduism" in the greater New York City area. Common readings deal with diasporic Hinduism in several locations and with the religious plurality of contemporary New York. Individual field projects focus on several worshipping communities, a retreat center, a national organization, and a foundation. Dr. Hawley has been a Pluralism Project affiliate since 2003.
