Mission and Vision

Pakigdait is an interfaith group whose mission is to "enhance individuals, groups and communities' capacity to transform conflict towards constructive change." Pakigdait's vision is to build "a society where reconciliation reigns in every individuals' heart and [is] practiced in homes and communities."

Programs and Events

Pakigdait organizes several programs to achieve their mission of building a peaceful community. Their programs are divided into four areas:
1. Grassroot Peacebulding Programs: On March 1, 2005, Pakigdait organized the Kauswagan Week of Peace event. In 2000, Kauswagan was involved in the Filipino army's all-out war against the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF). The event was held to "collectively remember the war and to celebrate the need for unity and reconciliation to sustain grassroots-based peacebuilding efforts."
2. Conflict Resolution, Management and Transformation Programs: The Inudaran Project was created to help the Inudaran villages to recover from damages inflicted during the all-out war against the MILF. During the war, the villages were burned because they were thought to have housed the MILF forces. Pakigdait helped by providing psychological therapy to the villagers and also helped in the rebuilding of the village.
3. Peace Advocacy and Networking Programs: Pakigdait has advocated the use of peaceful means to quell any mutual hostilities within religious communities. In their networking programs, they have worked with members of the government in order to bring about a transparent and accountable government especially in the Barangay region.
4. Community Enterprise and Micro Economic Project for Peace Programs: Pakigdait has been influential in villages in promoting the use of sustainable agriculture and introducing the use of natural and alternative farming methods in these villages. Currently Pakigdait is concentrating its efforts in four Filipino communities. They are:
1. Brgy. Inudaran, Kauswagan, Lanao del Norte
2. Barangays of Kauswagan, Lanao del Norte
3. Municipalities of Linamon, Bacolod, Maigo & Kolambugan
4. Municipalities of Munai and Tangkal

The efforts of Pakigdait are aided by various international partners such as the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), Catholic Agency for Overseas Development (CAFOD), The Asia Foundation, United States Agency for International Development (US-AID), Canadian International Development and others.
