Our Lord and Lady of Trinacrian Rose Church was founded in 1993 by the Reverend Lori Bruno and a board of directors. The Church is incorporated as 501c3 religious body in Massachusetts, granting it the right to perform legally binding marriage ceremonies. Our Lord and Lady of Trinacrian Rose is grounded in the tradition of Sicilian Strega beliefs, and what may be best described as “continental Wicca,” and community members seek to focus on “developing a kind heart” and to “practice charity and kindness to humanity.” Initially, the community numbered around 20 people; today there are around 12 regular participants. Reverend Bruno’s desire to expand the ministry led to Trinacrian Rose extending their ministerial credentials to individuals outside of the Salem community. This allows these individuals to practice this particular type of Wicca under the name of the Trinacrian Rose Church. While the size of the community in Salem remains small, there are around 125 members of Our Lord and Lady of Trinacrian Rose across the United States.

Since their inception, the Trinacrian Rose Church has contributed to charitable works and fundraising efforts for charities. The Trinacrian Rose has supported various community initiatives including Hospice at Mission Hill, Children’s AIDS program (now SPARK program), Haitian Relief, and more recently Healing Abuse Working for Change (HAWC), an agency that provides services for victims of domestic violence. During major church functions, Trinacrian Rose encourages attendees to bring food items to donate to the local food bank.

The immediate community is very diverse with members of many ages, gender expressions, and ethnicities. 

Activities and Schedule

Trinacrian Rose Church has a history of sharing sabbats with numerous religious groups north of Boston, most consistently the Temple of Nine Wells, ATC. Members of the Trinacrian Rose Church have also aided other Pagan bodies in the area in the process of becoming formally recognized since the Church has had to develop a working knowledge of laws and tax exemptions applicable to religious organizations with official 501c3 status. Beyond the Pagan community, Reverend Lori Bruno has spoken at various interfaith councils.

The Trinacrian Rose Church performs weddings within the Pagan community, including both “hand-fastings” and legally binding marriage ceremonies.
