Buddhist Education and Service

The one Dharma Meditation Group is an affiliation of independent Buddhist practitioners who meet for regular sitting and Dharma talks. The group has been in existence since the mid 90's and was founded by two friends who became interested in Buddhist teachings and wanted to learn more. Through self-study and attendance at workshops these two now lead the group and provide instruction and guidance to those interested in learning more about Buddhism. Until 2003, the group shared a space with a yoga studio but now the weekly meetings are held in individual’s homes. The weekly gatherings begin with an hour-long meditation including both sitting and walking meditation. Following the meditation, one of the founders leads a book discussion and gives a brief Dharma talk. The group also supports a prison outreach program and one of the founding members serves as the Buddhist “chaplain” at the local state penitentiary.
