World Sikh Conference to be Held in February

On January 10, 2006 the UNI reported, "Participants from different parts of the world, including America, Britain, Canada and several European countries would participate in the World Sikh Conference scheduled to be organised by the Damdami Taksal (Jatha Bhindran) at Fatehgarh Sahib on February 26. Talking to reporters here today organisation chief Baba Harman Singh Khalsa said that five issues of religious and social concern, including evils of drinking liquor and drug addiction among youths and growing tendency of disregard for tenets and conventions of Sikhism in younger generation were to be addressed at the conference. He said that an open invitation was being sent to people of all walks of life, particularly, functionaries of various Sikh bodies, inclduing SGPC and Akali Dal."
