World figures will convene in Tehran to attend 'Religion in the Modern World' conference hosted by the Foundation for Dialogue among Civilizations.

Prominent think-tanks, political and religious leaders, including former UN Secretary General Kofi Annan, the European Commission president Romano Prodi, and the former Iranian president Seyyed Mohammad Khatami will attend the gathering to study interaction between 'politics and religion'.

The conference aims to ease international tension and hopes to pave the way for enhancing cooperation between the Muslim world and the West.

Participants at the conference will discuss links between religion and globalization, modernity, democracy and peace and justice.
