Rev. Gary Cox of First Christian Church asked 1,200 people to publicly share their prayers with each other at their tables, in lieu of a traditional morning prayer from the pulpit on stage.

They prayed for our community, their families, our military, our country and our local charity efforts, among other things.

This public exchange at Thursday's 2007 Community Prayer Breakfast was at the very core of the message being communicated that day, that of interfaith exchange.

The guests listened to Jewish and Christian scripture, prayers, meditations, songs from the Southwest Florida Symphony Chorus and a keynote speech from Charles Kimball.
