On February 5, 2004 the Herald reported that, "the American Jewish Congress has filed a brief with the U.S. Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals to support a lawsuit brought by a Great Falls woman prohibiting specific Christian references in council prayers. The brief, filed Tuesday by the organization's chief lawyer, Marc Stern, said the use of specific faith preference in town council prayers is unconstitutional, according to a press release. The brief was filed on behalf of Wiccan high priestess Darla Wynne, a Great Falls resident. Wynne filed a lawsuit against the Great Falls Town council for using the name Jesus Christ in opening prayers. A U.S. district judge ruled in Wynne's favor; however, the town has appealed the judge's ruling.”
