The thousands of lives lost across the country over the past two decades in the course of crises presumed to be religious has become an issue of great concern not only to the government but to all stakeholders including non-governmental organisations (NGOs).

There is virtually no area in all the six geo-political zones in Nigeria that has not witnessed one or more of such crises in the last two decades. The upsurge of the crises has created suspicion and apprehension among the followers of the two major religions, Islam and Christianity.

Pyramid Trust observed that due to the high level of suspicion and apprehension among Muslims and Christians some areas across the nation have become no go areas for members of the two religions.

It was as a result of such tense atmosphere that some NGOs embarked on a rigorous sensitization campaign through organization of workshop to the followers of the two major religions across the country. The Democratic Action Group (DAC) one of such NGOs has recently organized similar workshop for Women religious leaders in Kano with a view to robbing minds on how to live in peace with one another.

The workshop which was held at the Centre for Democratic Research and Training (CDRT), Mambayya House, Kano, Pyramid Trust observed was organized in collaboration with a German based foundation Heinrich Boell Foundation.
