WASHINGTON - If the Spinning Wheel Film Festival were to come to Washington, what would be the ultimate setting? The Kennedy Center, of course.

For many it may even be unimaginable, but it is true. Arranged by the Kaur Foundation, an organization of Sikh women from the Washington-metropolitan area dedicated to community outreach, the film festival will make its debut in the nation’s capital on April 7 in the grandest of venues.

“It’s like a dream,” said Mirin Kaur, chair of the Kaur Foundation. She began making the announcement today to media, and will continue to contact other Sikh, Indian and mainstream media, she said. The event is marked on the center’s web site, www.kennedy-center.org.

The Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts is the cultural center of Washington. A virtual list of who’s who in arts and entertainment from the United States and around the world – from Tennessee Williams plays to the Bolshoi Opera - has performed in the marble icon known as the living memorial to President Kennedy. The center has hosted presidents, royalty and celebrities as well as the general public.
