On November 1, 2010, the who's who of Buddhist teachers in the United States wrote a letter to President Barack Obama, imploring his administration to "to repudiate the results of the upcoming election" in Burma.

They have also asked for the establishment of a Commission of Inquiry, to have the Burmese junta "account for allegations concerning Crimes against Humanity perpetrated against ethnic nationalities."
