On March 27, 2003 the Near and Far Digest reported that "more than 1,000 Vietnamese immigrants in Northern California and hundreds more in Southern California took to the streets recently to march in support of the war... California is home to the largest Vietnamese population outside Vietnam... Many participants of these marches are veterans of the army of the Republic of Vietnam, who have resettled in the United States following years of re-education camp imprisonment after the fall of the U.S.-backed government... The American Vietnamese Republican Assembly of Orange County took part in several rallies to support the troops including a rally at the Oscars, reports its president Bach Lien Tran Batdorf."
