On January 8, 2003 the Go Erie web site reported that "vandals broke windows, destroyed signs and kicked in doors at the Islamic Cultural Center, 9 E. 12th St., some time early Wednesday... It's not the first time patrons of the center have arrived to find vandalism, but Wednesday's was the worst, said Kathum Al-Tamimi, who helped to temporarily repair the damage Wednesday night... Al-Tamimi, who was at the center Wednesday to pray, said the vandals will not destroy what goes on inside."
