Last week’s terror attacks in Mumbai, during which at least 195 people were killed and nearly 300 injured have hit close to home for USC students, many who come from or have close relatives in India’s largest city.

Students gathered Tuesday night at the United University Church for “A Prayer for Mumbai,” a multi-faith memorial candlelight vigil co-sponsored by the Association of Indian Students, the Pakistani Student Association and the Interfaith Council.

Executive Vice President and Provost C.L. Max Nikias said the attacks had a profound effect on USC, which hosts almost 5,800 international students.

“When that country bleeds, so does our entire community,” Nikias said.
