US Sikh Delegation Visits Pakistani Quake Victims

On November 12, 2005 Sikh Sangat News reported, "Relation[s] between India and Pakistan will become friendly with the passage of time, said a member of 45-member Sikh delegation from North America visiting religious Sikh shrines in Pakistan these days.

Talking to reporters during a visit to Melody Relief and Rehabilitation Centre for Earthquake Victims here, he said that 'human beings belong to the same lot and there should not be any hatred between the two neighbouring countries'...

He said that after [the] Tsunami and Katrina, a lot of money had been collected around the world and [the]same is happening in connection with [the] South Asian earthquake. He said that numerous organizations in [the] private and public sector[s] around the world are contributing towards relief work. One can find donation boxes for the victims of earthquake in Pakistan in shops in the Americas, he said.

He said that Gurdawara Parbandhak Committee of North America had [a]lready given a donation of $25,000 to Pakistan. Giving an example of their visit to Pakistan, he said that the Sikh delegation started collecting money for the quake victims only two days ago and presented to the Melody Rehabilitation and Relief Centre a sum equivalent to Rs 215,000."
