On July 26, 2003 Times of India reported that "a $20,000 reward has been announced to nab the culprits behind a hate crime in which a 52-year-old Sikh truck driver was attacked in Arizona... Contributions for the reward have come from the Sikh community, the Arizona Anti-Defamation League, the governor's office, the US attorney office and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), said Harriet Bernick, spokesperson for US Attorney Paul Charlton."
