On July 22, 2003 Today's Sunbeam reported that "Obon Odori, a festival of remembrance celebrated with music, dance and light, was held for the 58th year in Seabrook over the weekend, demonstrating vividly the joining of two cultures that occurred when Japanese-Americans came to the area during World War II... Since 1945, Buddhists of the Seabrook Temple have gathered to celebrate Obon, a festival to appreciate the ancestors who have passed before them. The festival honors and reflects upon the sacrifices and creations of former generations that have made today better for their descendants... Following a performance by drummers from the Dharma School Taiko, Hoh Daiko and Nen Daiko, Josephine Seki, of New York, sang the United States National Anthem before a standing crowd."
