On January 10, 2005 India New England News reported, "as New Year's Eve approached, Pandit Ramadheen Ramsamooj and the community at the Saraswati Mandiram had mixed feelings. They were excited to have recently welcomed a new, six-foot-high, stone murti of the Goddess Saraswati from South India. But fresh in their minds was the fire that destroyed the Hindu temple's sanctuary and all of its contents last Dec. 31... The temple community has big plans for rebuilding, but has been waiting for the insurance money to come in. Investigators determined last year that an electrical problem likely caused the blaze that ravaged the center of the building's three sections. The other two sections - living quarters and a 238-seat auditorium - were not damaged."
