On July 25, 2003 the Indy Star reported that "the focus will be on peace and nonviolence Sept. 7 when the Dalai Lama visits Bloomington to dedicate the Chamtse Ling, a $1.2 million interfaith temple with a mission to promote world peace and harmony... [Larry Gerstein, a Fishers resident and Ball State University professor who is also the co-founder of the International Tibet Independence Movement], says the dedication of the 10,000-square-foot temple is also a tribute to Thubten J. Norbu, older brother of the Dalai Lama. The retired Indiana University professor is founder of the Tibetan Cultural Center in Bloomington and co-founder of the International Tibet Independence Movement."
