On February 19, 2004 Queens Chronicle reported, "The president of the Holliswood Civic Association and the Building Committee chairman of the Vaishnava Temple of New York agreed to a compromise at last week’s Community Board 8 meeting that would allow the religious institution to expand while addressing concerns raised by its neighbors. The board voted 34-1 to approve the compromise resolution, which includes plans for increased on-site parking, garbage storage and special parking arrangements for large events... At a contentious debate at the January 26th CB 8 Land Use Committee meeting, temple congregants were pitted against neighbors, who complained of problems with parking, garbage, noise and overcrowding during special events. The committee voted 5-4 to approve granting the special permit."
