On July 20, 2004 Sikh News Network reported, "Chirinjeev Singh has been offered a run for the US House of Representatives from the 9th Congressional District by the Cook County Republican Chair Gary Skoien. The Democratic incumbent has been plagued by a scandal involving her husband’s financial dealings. Robert Creamer, husband of U.S. Representative Jan Schakowsky (D-Evanston), has been indicted on bank fraud. The Republican Party believes that the indictment has made Schakowsky politically weak and is considering placing a stronger opponent – Chirinjeev Singh - against her for the general elections in November... Even more significant is the opening up of the Republican nominee for the U.S. Senate seat that Chirinjeev lost...The Illinois central committee of the Republican Party is now considering three candidates including Chirinjeev Singh, who ran in the primaries, to replace Ryan."
