Update: 92-year-old Sikh Marathon Runner Wins Ellis Island Medal of Honor

On November 14, 2003 Silicon India reported that "Indo British marathoner Fauja Singh, 92, has become the first non-American to be honored with the Ellis Island Medals of Honor. Apart from congressional awards, the Ellis Island Medals of Honor are the only awards recognized by Congress. Fauja Singh, who took part in the New York marathon on November 2 to increase awareness of the Sikh identity, was awarded the honorary Ellis Island Medal of Honor by National Ethnic Coalition of Organizations chairman William D. Fugazy."
