A new mosque to accommodate 250 people plus a separate area for women has opened on a university campus.

President of the Islamic Society at the University of East Anglia in Norwich, Kaleen Ullah, welcomed the opening.

He said the university's mosque had everything Muslims might need. "The sound system reaches every part of the building with a pure sound," he said.

New high-technology display equipment has also been installed for instruction and presentations.

Mr Ullah said: "At the front of the building is a data projector connected to a computer in the office.

"This can be used for presentations, children's instruction and for speakers to illustrate their talks."
