On June 23, 2003 the Daily Record reported that "as an attorney, Arnold represents the Pennsylvania Nonbelievers, a York-based group of humanists, free-thinkers and atheists who protest government-sanctioned religious practices or events, such as the National Day of Prayer... Most people would think Arnold wouldn’t be caught dead in church. They would probably be right if it weren’t for the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of York... The congregation — about 150 to 200 attend each week — was founded almost 50 years ago... 'Atheists don’t like to come to church,' Arnold said Sunday after the 10 a.m. service. 'But I have all the questions and all the fears. Religion fascinates me. And all the people here are nice...' Arnold, who has attended with his wife and kids for about a decade, had participated in the panel discussion, 'The Many Faces of Belief at the UUCY.' Seven members shared their faith experiences with at least 250 people who packed the church."
