On October 14, 2003 News 8 Austin reported that members of 11,000 member Indian community are raising money to build a Hindu temple in Austin by next year. The proposed site is a 76-acre plot off Decker Lake Road in Northeast Austin. The Austin Hindu Temple organization wants to build the kind of temple only found in India, and hundreds of local Indians have already volunteered to help.
