On August 5, 2006 49abcnews reported, "More than 100 people packed the Maner Conference Center to celebrate 100 years of the Bahai faith in Topeka. People had the chance to browse through booths filled with Bahá’í art and literature as well as attend presentations on the history of Bahá’í in Topeka. Event chairwoman Marcia Gitchell says she hopes the Bahá’i message will help people in the community unite, 'It’s a message of hope and it's one that I've believed in all my life and so I feel very grateful.' In addition to taking in the exhibits, people also had the chance to kick up their feet and listen to music presentations."
