On August 7, 2006 Tricycle reported, "A Tibetan web television station launched on August 4th, 2006, bringing the words of the Dalai Lama and the Tibetan government-in-exile to anyone with an internet connection. Kalon Lobsang Nyandak Zayul, Minister of the Department of Information and International Relations of the government-in-exile announced the launch of the website last week. Its purpose, he said, is to bring members of the Tibetan diaspora closer together and to allow maximum access to the Dalai Lama's words and teachings. Unfortunately, the station will not reach Tibetans in Tibet itself, due to the Chinese government's increasing efficiency at filtering content on the internet."
