After two failed attempts to build a cultural center on the land they own across the street, officials from the Hsi Lai Buddhist Temple want to know what they can do with it.

Temple officials met with the Los Angeles County Department of Regional Planning, Department of Public Works and the Fire Department on Tuesday to discuss possible uses for the 26 acres near the Puente-Chino Hills Wildlife Corridor just off Hacienda Boulevard.

"They had questions regarding zoning for property on the opposite side where the Buddhist temple is located," said Carmen Sainz, spokeswoman for the Los Angeles County Department of Regional Planning. "I just told them what the zoning is and they can propose a use of that zone."
