Supreme Leader Says Religious Minorites Have Constitutional Rights

On January 6, 2004 the Tehran Times reported, "Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei said on Monday that religious minorities in Iran enjoy constitutional rights and are living in equity with their fellow compatriots. In a meeting with religious leaders of Iranian Christians, Jews and Zoroastrians, the Supreme Leader thanked Iranian followers of the Jesus Christ (Peace Be Upon Him) for their sympathy with victims of Bam quake...In the meantime, the Supreme Leader felicitated Iranian Christians on the auspicious birthday anniversary of Jesus Christ (PBUH). Majority of Iranian Christians regard January 6 as the prophet's birthday."
