The Supreme Buddhist Council of America and Canada is appealing to the military leaders of Myanmar, formerly Burma, to bring a peaceful and harmonious atmosphere in the country in keeping with noble Buddhist principles.
The letter was addressed to Senior General Than Shwe, Chairman of the State Peace and Development Council, the governing military junta of Burma, by the Most Venerable Walpola Piyananda, head of the Sangha Council of America and Canada.
