On February 27, 2003 the BBC News reported on a university conference entitled, "Be British Be Hindu," in which college-age Hindu students discussed what it is to be both British and Hindu: "Organisers of the event say they are tired of being labelled as Asians and branded by branches of the media and politicians as one group. Events such as the Bradford riots in 2001, the September 11 attacks and other high profile incidents say the organisers, have caused some unease amongst the Hindu community."
