Representatives from Fredericton's faith communities celebrated their similarities and their differences Thursday.
A ritual studies class at St. Thomas University took the lead in organizing the first Celebration of Faith in Diversity at the university, bringing together 13 faith communities with students, educators, government officials and members of the public.
Fredericton's Baha'i, Buddhist, Christian, First Nations, Islamic, Jewish, Hindu, Unitarian and Quaker communities were represented.
The day consisted of talks - during which each community described its beliefs and experiences - a multicultural lunch with samples of traditional dishes and an afternoon of celebration, featuring dances, prayers and songs.
