On November 28, 2004 Lincoln Journal Star reported, "the Lincoln Interfaith Council is in a process of redefining itself and needs more support from the Lincoln community. That was the message from its outgoing president, the Rev. Jay Vetter, at the council's annual meeting on Tuesday evening. The approximately 60 people in attendance voted to begin 'an urgent financial campaign' to raise $50,000 from member congregations and other sources to avoid a budget deficit. Delegates set a deadline of Feb. 10 for getting $40,000 in pledges and to have at least $20,000 of that in cash, or else the council's office building will be closed to cut costs... One difficulty the council faces is that more than 60 percent of its nearly $200,000 annual budget comes from grants; only about 12 percent is from donations. More donor support is needed because there is no guarantee that grants will continue."
