On April 14, 2003 the Record Net reported that "several thousand Sikhs followed floats and cars from a south Stockton [CA] temple, thronging through downtown and back, sharing food, handshakes and hugs at the fifth annual Sikh Festival and parade... The parade, said Joga Mahil of Acampo, should 'make people aware of our culture, our religion. The best way to do it is to tell about yourself.'"
