Members of Gurdwara Gurnanak Parkash are filing for a building permit to construct a 10,216-square-foot worship center at the temple's current location on West Smith Road.

The Sikh temple has upward of 50 members and has been at its current home since 2000.

A larger center is needed for growth, said Jagraj Singh, a member of Gurdwara Gurnanak Parkash. The new space also will be more comfortable than the converted barn-like building, which is about 1,600 square feet, that now serves as the worship center.

"When it's cold it's hard for the kids," said Singh, who is a raspberry farmer.
