On May 26, 2005 the Burlington County Times reported, "a Sikh temple in Springfield where a massive brawl broke out last month could reopen as early as next week if two factions seeking control of temple leadership agree to share the building, a court-appointed attorney said yesterday. Superior Court Judge Ronald E. Bookbinder ordered the Gurdwara Khalsa Darbar temple on Old York Road closed April 21, a day after a legal dispute involving both factions erupted into violence. One faction filed a lawsuit against the other last year involving finances and control of the board of directors. Attorney Gregg Shivers was appointed by Bookbinder to take temporary control of temple finances and to devise a security plan. Shivers said yesterday he would recommend a plan next week that could allow the temple to reopen for services, but declined to discuss specifics. Bookbinder would have to accept the plan and rescind his order closing the temple before services can resume there. Leaders from both factions have said they would worship at private homes or other Sikh temples in the area in the interim. Sikhs typically attend services Friday and Sunday nights."
