The Guelph Sikh Society, and its opponents, are both setting their sights on the next hurdle in the society’s bid to build a temple on Clair Road in the south end.

“We are very hopeful we will get the zoning on June 7,” Dr. Ravi Rai, vice-president of the society, said Friday.

City councillors will hold a planning meeting that evening, and are expected to vote on whether to accept a recommendation from planning staff that would amend the zoning bylaw on the property and allow the construction of a religious institution.
