On September 5, 2005 ThisisDerbyshire reported, "More than 1,000 people lined the streets of Derby to celebrate the opening of a new Sikh temple. A procession through Normanton was held yesterday morning by the Sikh community from their old temple, in Pear Tree Street, to the new temple in Princes Street. The new temple, which was home to the Blue Wave Clothing Company, is almost four times as big as the former 6,000 sq ft Sri Guru Singh Sabha temple and yesterday was its official opening. Amardeep Singh, organiser of the youth group, said: 'It was an excellent day. There were about 1,000 people there and they came from all over the world, including India, U.S. and all over the UK.'"
