On November 21, 2004 the BBC News reported, "Thousands of Sikh pilgrims are arriving in Pakistan for celebrations marking the anniversary of the religion's founder, Baba Guru Nanak. Organisers say they are preparing for the arrival of up to 17,000 pilgrims from around the world, 5,000 of them from India. They say the recent thaw in relations between India and Pakistan has boosted pilgrim numbers. The festivities are scheduled to last 10 days."
