On January 16, 2006 The Indian Express reported, "A deputation of various Sikh organisations led by Punjabi Vikas Manch Convenor Charanjit Singh Grover has submitted a memorandum to Akal Takht Jathedar Joginder Singh Vedanti seeking action against those officials of the Palentine Gurdwara at Chicago who had been violating the Sikh tenets and were hurting the religious sentiments of the Sikh masses. In a statement issued here today, Grover said that the deputation had demanded setting up of a committee of Sikh intellectuals and scholars who could go into the matter in detail and recommend suitable action against those guilty. Grover said that the deputation pointed out in its memorandum that Kulwant Singh Hundal and Bhupinder Singh Hundal had been misusing the Gurdwara’s funds for personal use and Granthi Mohinder Singh had been indulging in the sale of beer. The functionaries of the Gurdwara had put up chairs in the langar hall and taken the holy Granth Sahib to the beach where people went for merry-making."
