On August 21, 2005 The Panthic Weekly reported, "A Sikh man was physically attacked by two racist thugs who ripped of his turban. The 33 year old Sikh man was walking on Rushden High Street with his brother and father on Sunday night when he was physically assaulted.

Northants police said this week that a Sikh man had his turban pulled off and was racially abused in the attack. The two men approached from the direction of the Corner Flag public house.

The attackers shouted racist abuses at the Sikhs as they threatened him. One of the attackers grabbed hold of the Sikh dastar (turban) and tugged it of the Sikh's head. The attackers then threw the turban to the ground. The attackers then fled in the direction of The Feathers Public House."
